The trip is off to a great start. In this case, 'great' is defined as "very easy travel to Tenerife despite the length of the pieces needed to get here." The 11 participants and Spencer are now ensconced at the Hotel Riu Garoe in Puerto de la Cruz, on Tenerife's northwest coast. Iberia did a great job at delivering all of us, and our luggage, on time. Although there were some tired faces, everyone was in good spirits.
We arrived at the Tenerife Norte airport at a little before 8pm local time. The 20-minute bus trip from the airport to the hotel afforded us a glimpse of the island's topography, as well as the omnipresent view of the ocean, as dusk settled over the island. The temperature is quite comfortable, and there is a hanging overcast that obscures El Teide. We all changed into our dinner clothes and enjoyed the dinner buffet at the hotel.
Due to the fatigue on the faces of people, we won't post any pictures today. Those will start tomorrow, which is set to be a busy day. We also look forward to María José and Daniel's arrival tomorrow evening.
